ODES
Organisme de Developpement pour l’Esperance au Mali
O.D.E.S – which stands for “a development organization for HOPE in Mali” is the relief and development arm of the Mali Alliance national church. They are licensed by the Mali government to assist Malians spiritually and physically in each region of Mali.
The ODES administrative team is made up of Kadidia Baro (directrice) Andre Diarra (financial administrator) and Louka Daou (programs coordinator). There are seven O.D.E.S field workers stationed at projects sites around Mali. CAMA Services is partnering to assist them with their current projects but also help them expand on the wholistic work they have begun in Mali. On going needs for O.D.E.S include partners and funding for their projects.
The verse O.D.E.S has chosen to claim as their own is:
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
ODES Office Project
The administrative headquarters for ODES is located in Bamako, the capital city of Mali. Construction began on their offices in 2000 and the work has been done in phases. It is nearing completion but there is still one building phase that needs completed.
Read about and see photos of a volunteer team from Nebraska that helped with the office project.
Meet the ODES Administrative Staff
Kadidia Bora, Director
She grew up in Mopti in a Muslim family. She married a pastors son and he led her to the Lord when she was 22. She has since led many in her family to the Lord. They have eight children ranging from ages 9 to 27.
She has worked for O.D.E.S since 2001 and her role is primarily administrative. She brings a large spiritual dimension to the work of O.D.E.S. She serves as the National Alliance ladies vice president. Her desire for O.D.E.S is to see it become a stronger organization.
She has a heart to help Malian women and in partnership with the Mali Alliance ladies she is working on the building of a women’s shelter. This “home” will house: widows, women who are being persecuted by their family for their faith, and young women at risk. While at the shelter these women would be trained in agriculture and animal husbandry. If you’d like to hear more about this project or assist with funding please let us know.
Louka Daou, Program Director
Louka was born into a Christian family in a region of Mali called Segou. His father was a farmer. He came to the Lord when he was 16 years old. He has a degree in forestry/agriculture with an emphasis in animal husbandry.
He began working for O.D.E.S in January 2000. He currently serves as the program coordinator. He oversees the current projects and supervises the staff in the field that keep these projects going. He is married and has a four year old. Louka and his wife are both actively involved in a local Alliance church.
Louka has a burden for the women and children he encounters in the remote regions of Mali. He sees them lacking proper health care, suffering from poor nutrition, and lacking educational opportunities, but most importantly they are lost spiritually. His vision is to start projects that will meet the needs of women and children in Mali and in doing so be able to share Truth with them.
Andre Diarra, Financial Administrator
Andre grew up in a Christian home and gave his life to the Lord as a 21 year old. He has worked for ODES as their financial administrator since 1999. He is married with two children. His dream for ODES as a structure is to see it grow to better aid those in poverty.
